Journalist Tom Collomosse believes Leicester City may end up selling star midfielder Youri Tielemans and ‘another big hitter’ in the summer transfer window.

The Foxes are currently sitting in the bottom half of the Premier League table after losing more games than they’ve won this season, opening the door to potential exits over the coming months.

What is the latest news involving Leicester?

Following Leicester’s remarkable title triumph in 2015/16, they sanctioned the exit of one key player each summer beginning with N’Golo Kante’s departure.

Danny Drinkwater, Riyad Mahrez, Harry Maguire and Ben Chilwell then followed suit, allowing the Midlands side to reinvest the proceeds of the exits and continually punch above their weight.

Under the tutelage of manager Brendan Rodgers, Leicester managed two consecutive fifth place finishes in the top-flight before claiming their maiden FA Cup crown and the Community Shield.

However, last summer, the King Power Stadium outfit decided to keep hold of all of their high-profile names in an attempt to finally break into the top four places.

But with that dream already looking over, it seems as though Tielemans is destined to depart Leicester following the conclusion of 2021/22 after entering the final 18 months of his current contract.

According to Fabrizio Romano, the Belgium international has decided not to extend his stay with the club and is already attracting the interest of many top sides across the continent.

What has Collomosse said about Leicester?

A report in the Daily Mail states that Leicester are set to demand £35 million for their prized asset, with Manchester United, Arsenal and Liverpool amongst the clubs circling for his signature.

Yet Collomosse reckons Tielemans may not be the only crucial cog to be moved on when the transfer market re-opens.

In an exclusive interview, he told GiveMeSport: “Last summer was the first year they've had in a while where they haven’t sold a big name.

“And if you look at this year, say they don't get the Champions League, and I don’t think they will, then something will have to give financially, I think. So, I could imagine Tielemans going for sure, this summer, and then even another big hitter on top of that.”

Who could Leicester sell?

According to Transfermarkt, defensive midfielder Wilfried Ndidi is Leicester’s most valuable player with a valuation of £54m, while James Maddison is the third-highest at £45m behind Tielemans.

Ndidi and Maddison have both been linked with the likes of United and Arsenal in the past and may feel it’s time to seek a new challenge next season.

It remains to be seen whether Rodgers can keep hold of his top assets, though, as the Northern Irish tactician will surely be keen not to lose too many key players in one go.
