Edinson Cavani has had a wonderful football career.

The Uruguayan has been one of the world's top forwards for over a decade.

While he's established himself as one of the best strikers of the 21st century, he's also conducted himself as a true professional both on and off the field.

Cavani showed he's pure class back in March 2020.

On March 11, 2020, Cavani was in the starting lineup for Paris Saint-Germain's crucial Champions League last-16 second leg tie against Dortmund at the Parc des Princes.

Dortmund went into the game with an advantage having won 2-1 in the first leg.

PSG managed to win 2-0 on the night to scrape through to the quarter-finals of the competition.

The French club's players ruthlessly mocked Dortmund's star player, Erling Haaland, who was just 19 years old at the time, both during and after the game.

But Cavani refused to get involved.

Neymar started the disrespect. In the 28th minute, after scoring the opener, he performed Haaland's trademark 'zen' celebration.

Cavani didn't look too impressed as he picked Neymar off the ground.

After PSG's win was secured, many PSG players stayed on the pitch and all posed for pictures while doing Haaland's celebration.

Cavani was not involved.

The disrespect continued in the dressing room as PSG players celebrated their win. A video emerged of Neymar and Kylian Mbappe being among the players continuing to disrespect Haaland.

Cavani could be seen standing there, hand on hips, almost appalled with his teammates' behaviour and distancing himself from their actions.

Cavani is clearly a player who respects his opponents. Throughout his career he has conducted himself in the correct manner both on and off the pitch.

Now 35, he's still playing at the highest level with Manchester United. He can be very proud of the career he has had.
