Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy "loves the idea" of Gareth Bale scoring goals for the north London club, says journalist Dean Jones.

The 32-year-old has, of course, had two spells at Spurs and has recently been linked with another return to the Premier League outfit.

What is the latest news involving Bale?

According to Italian outlet TUTTOmercatoWEB, Bale has signed a pre-agreement with Tottenham, with the forward's Real Madrid contract set to expire in the summer.

Los Blancos boss Carlo Ancelotti has actually been speaking about Bale's future, telling Marca and other outlets that the Welshman wants to finish his career at the Santiago Bernabeu on a good note, which suggests that this is indeed his last season in the Spanish capital.

"He wants to end things here as he deserves to, because he's helped us to win the Champions League and he's done important things," Ancelotti said ahead of Real Madrid's last 16 Champions League tie against Paris Saint-Germain. "I think finishing things well here would be good for his career."

Bale has seen little action this term, missing most of the campaign so far due to a knee injury. He did, however, manage to pick up some minutes in Real Madrid's last La Liga outing, starting in that 0-0 draw with Villarreal.

What has Jones said about Bale and Tottenham?

Jones has told GIVEMESPORT that Levy just loves the idea of Bale tearing it up at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium amid talk of him returning for a third spell.

Speaking to GMS, the transfer insider said: "Gareth Bale, it's an interesting one because Daniel Levy loves the idea of Bale scoring goals and having that connection with the fans and harking back to those glory days that he had."

Should Tottenham re-sign Bale?

You can certainly see the appeal. A former fans' favourite who once cost £85m that you can now get for free.

Bale also finished his second stint at Spurs in strong fashion, scoring twice in their final league fixture against Leicester City after netting a hat-trick versus Sheffield United a few games prior.

However, his injury record is obviously a huge concern and you would also expect the Wales international, who is said to be on a staggering £600,000-a-week contract at Real Madrid, to demand huge wages as a free agent.

When you take that into account, perhaps Spurs would be better off looking elsewhere if a pre-agreement is not in place yet.
