In FIFA 22, you need to learn every trick in the EA handbook to get an advantage over your opponent.

That being said, one of the most overpowered mechanisms is to take full control of your keeper in-game and unleash your inner Manuel Neuer to outwit your opposition.

Whilst it's a relatively simple technique, not many players know how to do it in-game.

So let's take a look at the mechanics of moving your goalkeeper in FIFA 22.

How to Move your Goalkeeper in FIFA 22

To move your goalkeeper in FIFA 22, all you need to do is this.

Press and hold the R3 button and push to either side depending on the direction you want your keeper to move.

To return your keeper to the assisted version of goalkeeping, simply release the R3 trigger and your keeper will return to normal.

You may be familiar with the technique of using triangle (Y on Xbox) to rush out your goalkeeper, but this method is much more effective in providing a more controlled approach.

When should I move my goalkeeper?

You can move your keeper in many different situations, but these are the ones that make the most sense.

When your opponent is one-on-one, try to anticipate where their player is going to strike the ball.

For example, we know Erling Haaland is left-footed and he is most likely to strike across-goal. So we will move our keeper to the left - to cover that far post, and vice-versa with the other side.

If your opponent is clean through, you'll have to make a guess, which sometimes can go wrong so it's up to you whether you want to take that risk or allow the AI to take the reigns.
