A fundraiser has been set up for a six-year-old Swindon Town fan who said he canât attend matches because his mum âhas no money for foodâ.Swindon are currently searching for Joe, who sent a letter to the League Two club attached with 26p for forward Harry McKirdy."Mummy doesn't have any money to come to Swindon games because she has no money for food and has to pay for my dinner at school,â the letter reads."I like Swindon Town Harry McKirdy. I will come one day."Joe Aged 6 ½."Attached to the letter with sellotape was a 20p, a 5p and a 1p coin for McKirdy, who scored Swindon's goal in a 4-1 defeat to Premier League champions Manchester City in the FA Cup last month.Joeâs letter has gone viral on social media after it touched the hearts of football fans.Swindon, meanwhile, posted the following tweet on Tuesday: âWe have received this letter from Town fan Joe, aged 6 and a half. âWe'd really love to get in touch with Joe, but we don't have a return address. âIf anyone recognises the writing or thinks they know who Joe is, please email supporters@swindontownfc.co.ukâ.
Fundraiser set up for young Swindon Town fan
Over on JustGiving, football fans have already raised more than £1,200 for Joe.
The description reads: âSwindon Town FC have been contacted by a young boy called Joe who unfortunately doesn't have the privileges of being able to attend football matches!
âThis is where football comes together. Lets all get together and fund for Joe & his family to attend a game & for Joe to be mascot for the day giving him an experience for life!
âJust to confirm that 100% of these proceeds will go to the club to support Joe & his family.â
Fingers crossed Swindon Town get hold of Joe soon and reward the little lad for his generosity.
