Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez's coach Eddy Reynoso has offered to train Anthony Joshua ahead of his rematch with Oleksandr Usyk.

The former unified heavyweight champion is currently searching for new backroom staff as he looks to shake things up in his training camp.

AJ, 32, decided to leave Rob McCracken after his defeat to the Ukrainian at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in September.

Canelo Alvarez's trainer Reynoso has coached a number of world champions over the years.

The 45-year-old Mexican - who trains his charges out of San Diego's House of Boxing gym in California - has been in the corner for fighters such as Ryan Garcia, Oscar Valdez and Andy Ruiz Jr.

And now he has volunteered his services to Joshua's promoter Eddie Hearn as he bids to recover from his most recent setback.

“I’m a boxing trainer and willing to work with anyone," Reynoso said to Fight Hub TV, in quotes reported by BoxingScene.com.

"Him also. Whoever, it’s just a thing of when the fights will be happening, and we are ready.

"Yeah, I spoke to Joshua and Hearn to see what can be done and we will see what’s next.

“I would love to work with Joshua. Why not? My job is to train fighters, and I will see if I can make it work.

“I think work his distance more, better combinations. He has a lot of good traits, a lot of good physical traits, but doesn’t take advantage of them."

Reynoso famously masterminded Ruiz Jr's shock upset win over Joshua in June 2019.

When asked if that would be a problem, he simply added: “There’s no conflict there having Joshua there with Andy.

"They both don’t have fights, so there’s the opportunity to work with both of them.

"No, there’s no conflict, not at all. Andy has other fights coming and so does Joshua.”

It was reported that Joshua was offered a step-aside fee to allow Tyson Fury to fight Usyk in a huge undisputed fight.

But promoter Hearn insists that he paid it no consideration as he is set to rematch Usyk in May in the UK.

In a recent interview, he told Steve Bunce on BBC Radio 5 Live's Boxing podcast: “It’s clear AJ will be fighting Usyk, which is his preferred choice.

"May is when you’ll see that fight.

“There’s the UK, America, the Middle East – we’ve had offers all around the world for that fight. I’d like to do it in the UK and we’ll see.”
