Leeds United are looking to complete a major player and manager double swoop by welcoming American duo Brenden Aaronson and Jesse Marsch to Elland Road at the end of the season, according to transfer insider Dean Jones.

The Whites failed to bolster their squad during the January window and question marks remain over the future of head coach Marcelo Bielsa due to his current agreement expiring in the summer.

What's the latest news involving Aaronson and Marsch?

The Telegraph have revealed Marsch has emerged as Leeds' first choice candidate to replace Bielsa should the Argentinian choose against extending his stay in Yorkshire.

The report suggests the 48-year-old is admired by those behind the scenes at Elland Road, but Bielsa's future will be handled delicately.

It comes after it had initially been claimed that Marsch, former Barcelona chief Ernesto Valverde and Huddersfield Town head coach Carlos Corberan were in the running in the event of the Leeds job being vacated.

Meanwhile, The Athletic reporter Phil Hay has suggested the Whites feel Red Bull Salzburg star Aaronson will be on the market at the end of the campaign.

Leeds saw bids of £15million and £20million turned down during their pursuit of the 18-cap United States international last month.

What has Dean Jones said about the situation?

Jones understands that Leeds - including sporting director Victor Orta - are big fans of Aaronson and Marsch, while he believes the club are confident that the duo would be keen on heading to Elland Road.

Jones told GIVEMESPORT: "It’s not a coincidence that Leeds were heavily linked with Brenden Aaronson and are now being heavily linked with Jesse Marsch.

"There is huge admiration for the Red Bull model and their focus has been on success stories coming out of Salzburg in recent years.

"Leeds want both Aaronson and Marsch and believe the pair would love to work together in an English team."

Would deals for Aaronson and Marsch be easy to complete?

Leeds' hopes of securing the services of Aaronson may have been boosted by the fact it is known that the 21-year-old holds dreams of featuring in the Premier League.

However, the Whites are expected to face competition for the attacking midfielder's signature as a host of clubs, including Salzburg's sister club RB Leipzig and Serie A giants AC Milan, have recently been linked.

Welcoming Marsch to Yorkshire should prove easier as he is currently out of work having been sacked by RB Leipzig in December.

However, Marsch managed Aaronson at Salzburg, handing his fellow countryman 25 appearances, so he could play a key role in Leeds eventually sealing a deal for the star.
