Amir Khan’s punch resistance has been called into question after post-fight images have surfaced.

Kell Brook emerged victorious against his long-time rival Khan, following a TKO in the sixth round of the contest.

One criticism that has followed Khan throughout his career is lack of durability. Five of the six defeats he has suffered in the professional ranks have been by way of knockout.

His loss to Brook will have done nothing change anyone’s mind, with the 35-year-old looking in much worse condition than his counterpart.

Khan arrived in the ring with cupping marks on his back and shoulders. Cupping is a technique commonly used by sportsmen and women to aid with healing, range of motion, and blood circulation.

Khan claimed to have had a successful fight camp in the build-up to his grudge match with Brook, but his performance on the night was less than convincing.

Normally a fighter who throws quick combinations, Khan was unable to land with any regularity. Brook caught him with a right hand in the first round which visibly shook him and would be an indicator of how the fight would go.

Khan, a unified world champion at junior welterweight, tried to play off the impact of the punch with smiling and taunting, but his wobbly legs would beg to differ.

Khan’s chin would once again fail to impress his detractors, but his heart might well have earned him some admirers.

He was able to withstand several barrages from Brook, and despite being out on his feet, refused to quit and stood to-to-toe with Special K until the referee intervened.

This latest defeat might spell the end of Khan’s career, with the 35-year-old admitting his love for the sport isn’t what it once was.

It is difficult to disagree with this sentiment after witnessing such a lacklustre display from the ex-reality TV star.
