Saturday Night brought to life one of the longest awaited fights in Boxing as Amir Khan and Kell Brook went head to head in the ring for the first time. The time to throw punches finally came after all the words that had been exchanged over the last 17 years. An embrace was shared at the end of the fight between the two former world champions. Brook put in a dominant display to win the grudge match and it was settled with a sixth-round stoppage. In an interview after the match, the 35-year-old Brook made mention of the mind games that his opponent had been trying to play on him in the build-up to the fight. There was some confusion just before the match started as he had to change his gloves after coming to the ring. He explained it saying: “I had to put different gloves on in the ring, He said he wasn't happy with my gloves. "In the final moment in the ring, they said they wouldn't pay me unless I put new gloves on.” During the interview, he revealed some of the other tactics used by his opponent before the match.

He said: “I dealt with everything. They did it all week. They tried to get in my head. To poke at me. I even had someone knock on my hotel room door at 3am this morning to disrupt my sleep. But I took care of business.”

After the fight, Khan hinted at his retirement, saying: “I've had 40 fights, winning two world titles, fighting in America and around the world, I need to sit down with my family.

"But it is more towards the end of my career.” He continued: “The love for the sport isn't there anymore. That's maybe a sign that I should call it a day. But let's see."

It seems there could be a friendship brewing between the two outside of the ring, with Brook saying:

“I've always had respect for him.

"But when I didn't get it back? It's hard to like someone. But he took shots and tried to hold on. I respect him for that. He said we can get a coffee after!"
