Former Premier League midfielder Carlton Palmer reckons that Aston Villa might have found a Jack Grealish replacement in Jacob Ramsey.
The 20-year-old has been one of the standout youngsters in the top-flight this season and has stepped up in the absence of the former Villa captain.
How has Ramsey performed this term?
Two years ago, the midfielder was playing in League One with Doncaster Rovers, but he is now writing his name all over the Premier League.
In his 27 appearances this season, Ramsey has scored five goals, which is the joint-most by any Villa player along with Ollie Watkins, while he’s chipped in with one assist.
Ramsey caught the eye with wonder goals against Arsenal and Norwich earlier in the campaign, although it was his performances against Manchester United and Leeds which have really got people talking.
In the 2-2 draw with the Red Devils, Ramsey reduced the deficit with a fine finish past David De Gea before expertly teeing up Philippe Coutinho’s first goal back in the Premier League to rescue a point moments later.
The youngster went one better in the draw with Leeds, scoring two exceptional goals to put Villa 3-1 ahead, although a second half fightback meant his early heroics were in vain.
But Ramsey’s form hasn’t gone unnoticed. Former Villa man Paul Merson has tipped the midfielder to earn a first England call-up next month, while Palmer believes that he could end up being Villa’s Grealish replacement.
What did Palmer say about Ramsey?
He told GIVEMESPORT: “He’s certainly a talented boy, and they may well have found a Jack Grealish replacement.”

How has Ramsey performed compared to Grealish?
However, the majority of football fans that watch both players regularly know that Ramsey has been the better of the two players. Not only has he scored three more top-flight goals than Grealish (2), but he’s done it playing in a Villa team that have found the net 32 times fewer than Manchester City.
In terms of key passes made per game, Grealish averages two compared to Ramsey’s 0.5, although that has only allowed him to chip in with two assists, while the 20-year-old has that one for Coutinho, who has since described the exciting midfielder as a “top player“.
Ramsey still has a long way to go before he can be consistently compared to Grealish, but at this current moment, he’s comfortably outdoing the England international.
