Strongman Eddie Hall has released a video capturing his astonishing striking power, ahead of his March 19th boxing bout which will take the term heavyweight to a whole new level.Hall is set to face rival strongman, Iceland’s Hafthor Bjornsson, next month as the two former World’s Strongest Man champions settle their differences, while simultaneously becoming the heaviest matchup boxing has ever seen.Eddie Hall claimed the prestigious title back in 2017. Bjornsson finished as runner up, but took the title the following year.But it was the 2017 championship that sparked the long-standing beef between the two giants, when the Icelander accused Hall of cheating, and claimed he was robbed of a crucial point that would have tied them.Nearly three years on, and the two set a date for the boxing match – September 2021 – after Hall launched an attack on Thor, claiming the latter’s deadlift record of 501kg should not count, since it did not take place in a competitive environment.The fight was then postponed until March 2022, after Hall suffered a detached bicep.
Eddie Hall shows off his physique Credit: InstagramBut in a recent video released by the Brit, Hall shows no cause for concern as he bounces back from injury, demonstrating tremendous punching power with all 24 stone of his gigantic frame behind it.Clearly, and to no surprise at all, Hall possesses jaw dropping power, with alarming explosiveness that could end a bout with one clean connection.Hall is not short of power, nor confidence. But while he has 12kg on his opponent, Thor Bjornsson – appropriately named ‘The Mountain’ after his character in the television series Game of Thrones – his rival has an advantage that is hard to overlook.
His overwhelming height advantage – all 6-foot-nine-inches of it – which could easily prove to be a game changer in the ring.
Additionally, the Icelander has dropped a massive 60kg ahead of the fight, having previously weighed 205kg during competition.
This weight loss will be huge for Bjornsson if it comes to the later rounds – although judging by the sheer power displayed by Hall, the fight likely will not last that long.
But if there is one thing that the two cannot be separated on, it is their shared hatred of their rival.
With personal history on the line, and two brutes in the ring, the matchup in the United Arab Emirates on March 19th will be one for the ages.
