Transfer insider Dean Jones believes Barcelona are interested in signing three Chelsea defenders in the summer transfer window.

The Blues have enjoyed plenty of success over the past 12 months, thanks largely to their solid backline, but they could be at risk of losing Cesar Azpilicueta, Andreas Christensen and Antonio Rudiger at the end of the season.

What's the latest news involving Azpilicueta, Christensen and Rudiger?

With just three months of the season remaining, Chelsea may be starting to get concerned about the contract situations of their defensive trio.

All three have deals expiring in June, and they are yet to put pen to paper on contract extensions.

As things stand, they will be all be available on free transfers when the next window opens, which is far from an ideal scenario for Thomas Tuchel's side.

What has Jones said about Barcelona's interest?

Jones has confirmed that Barcelona are keen on the three Chelsea players, and thinks the five-time European Cup winners could look to take advantage of the situation by bringing them all to the Nou Camp without spending a single penny.

He has admitted that he is staggered that Chelsea have allowed the matter to get to this stage.

When asked if Barcelona want to sign Azpilicueta, Jones told GIVEMESPORT: “Barcelona are looking at him, Christensen and Rudiger, so they are looking to exploit the situation, this mess that Chelsea have found themselves in. It’s quite unbelievable, really."

Will Chelsea keep hold of their defenders this summer?

It's not looking particularly promising at the moment.

Rudiger has arguably been their standout defender since Tuchel arrived in January 2021, but it was recently reported that Chelsea are not even in talks with the German international over a new deal right now.

Meanwhile, the club's skipper Azpilicueta has spent the last 10 years at Stamford Bridge, yet he could also be on the move at the end of the season. According to reports, he is edging closer to a transfer to Barcelona when his Chelsea contract expires.

As for Christensen, it has been claimed that Chelsea are growing irritated by his reluctance to sign a new deal, so his chances of staying at the club appear to be diminishing.

Bearing this in mind, Chelsea's defence could look very different in a few months' time, leaving Tuchel to put together a new backline ahead of next season.
