A stalker who walked 23 miles to the home of British tennis star Emma Raducanu has been given a five-year restraining order. The 35-year-old Amrit Magar was found guilty of stalking Raducanu last year after a trial at Bromley Magistrates’ Court last month. He has now been handed his punishment, which includes the lengthy restraining order.District judge Sushil Kumar also sentenced Magar to an 18-month community order, including 200 hours of unpaid work, and an eight-week curfew between 9pm and 6am.He must also pay £500 pounds in costs and a £95 victim surcharge.Magar, from Harrow in north-east London, was found guilty of stalking Raducanu between November 1st and December 4th.He visited Raducanu’s house on three separate occasions, loitered outside, left unwanted gifts and cards, and took her dad’s trainer from the porch.

Magar also left a bouquet of flowers and a bizarre note signed by him, his wife and his dog, and also once drew a map of his 23 mile walk from north London to Raducanu’s house.

Next to the map, Magar had written: “23 miles walked for you!”

Bromley Magistrates Court heard last month that Magar had become obsessed with Raducanu after watching the US Open champion’s matches.

He was eventually arrested after Raducanu’s father Ian recognised him from doorbell camera footage and pursued him in his car.

Speaking to police while preparing for the Australian Open last month, Raducanu said of her ordeal: “Because of this I feel like my freedom has been taken away.

“I feel on edge and worried this could happen again. I don’t feel safe in my own home which is where I should feel safest.”

Raducanu and her family have also suggested that they may move to a home with better security as a result of the stalking.

After finding Magar guilty, Kumar said: “I accept there was some degree of planning.

“Your actions have caused changes of lifestyle for the family, not least the acquisition of security measures and moving house. He should not be going anywhere near where Ms Raducanu is going to compete or train.”

Raducanu, who has risen to world number 12 after her improbable victory at the US Open, is currently in Mexico for the Abierto Akron Zapopan.

She crashed out in the first round after picking up a hip injury during her clash with Daria Saville.
