Oscar De La Hoya has taken a swipe at Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez's trainer Eddy Reynoso in the wake of Ryan Garcia's decision to team up with Joe Goosen.

The 49-year-old Golden Boy of boxing mockingly claimed the Mexican is ready at the drop of a hat the minute Canelo Alvarez wants something.

De La Hoya has pulled no punches in accusing Reynoso of not having enough time for anyone else by focusing solely on Canelo.

He also insisted that Reynoso barely has any spare time as he looks after 'so many world champions', including Oscar Valdez, Andy Ruiz Jr and Julio Cesar Martinez.

De La Hoya told FightHype.com: “When the Vergil’s were thinking of going to Eddy Reynoso, I liked the idea because he has knowledge and training alongside a great world champion like Canelo, it would’ve been great.

"But the only issue was the time. Eddy Reynoso has so many world champions, including the very best one. If Canelo tells Eddy, ‘Hey let’s go on vacation,’ he drops everything and he goes because they’re best friends.

"So, it wouldn’t have been fair to Vergil or the fighters. We now see with Ryan, he went with Joe Goosen which is a great choice. It’s timing.

"Eddy Reynoso only has time for Canelo, that’s the bottom line, so the choice that Vergil made was an excellent one.

"Moving out here to LA, they have the sparring, they have the trainer who is the second voice, who has the knowledge, has the experience. I think this was a great move, an excellent move.”

Garcia, 24, recently revealed he has appointed Goosen as his new trainer in replacement of Reynoso, which De La Hoya feels was the right move.

In an interview with Fight Hub TV, he said: “Yeah, no look, I mean, you’re talking to a guy who had about seven trainers in his whole career, so a change of trainer is always a fresh breathe of air.

“Ryan Garcia did excellent, you know, he chose the right trainer, he chose the right guy.

"Joe Goosen will bring out the best in him. Joe Goosen is a tough trainer. He doesn’t take c*** from anybody.

"He just wants to see his fighters do the very best."
