Pete O'Rourke has described Patrick Bamford's ongoing injury situation as "concerning" and a "disappointment" for Leeds.

The striker has been out of action for almost three months and has been restricted to just a handful of appearances this season.

What's the latest news involving Bamford?

Having enjoyed an impressive first top-flight season with Leeds, the frontman would have been hoping to kick on and better the 17 league goals he scored last season.

He made a decent start, scoring once and laying on two assists in his first five Premier League outings this term.

But an ankle problem sustained at Newcastle in September forced Bamford to spend two months on the sidelines. He would make his comeback against Brentford in dramatic fashion by scoring a last-gasp equaliser to earn Leeds a point in early December.

However, Bamford's joy was short-lived after he injured his hamstring when celebrating that late goal and hasn't appeared since. He's now missed more than 20 games in all competitions, with Leeds struggling in his absence at the wrong end of the Premier League table.

The £18m-rated striker is expected to return to action before the end of the season, but O'Rourke has described his lack of minutes this season as a "disappointment" for Leeds.

What did O'Rourke say about Bamford?

He told GIVEMESPORT: "It's really concerning for Leeds and Patrick Bamford and a real disappointment, because he had such a great season last year."

When could Bamford make his comeback?

With Leeds struggling for goals and conceding at an alarming rate, which has dragged them into a relegation battle, they need Bamford back fit at some point this season.

Fortunately for Marcelo Bielsa, his talisman is in line to return, although he's still likely to miss at least another couple of fixtures before he's back in action.

According to The Athletic, Leeds are hoping to have Bamford back available for the home game against Aston Villa on March 10. In what could prove a major injury boost for Bielsa, key midfielder Kalvin Phillips is also in line to return for that Elland Road clash.

However, Bielsa has since responded to those claims by saying "there's no fixed return date," which would be extremely frustrating for the Yorkshire outfit.
