In a piece of rather surprising news, various reputable sources have claimed that Cesaro has left WWE after the expiration of his contract.

The news was first reported by PWInsider yesterday, who claim that the two parties were unable to come to terms on a new deal.

The report does explain that Cesaro was offered a new contract by WWE, but opted to turn down the deal that was put in front of him.

WWE star Cesaro has quietly exited WWE after his current contract expired, PWInsider.com has confirmed. We are told the two sides had been in negotiations but had not come to terms on a new agreement.  One source noted that WWE did offer Cesaro an extension on his current deal but that was turned down.

This ends the former United States Champion's eleven-year run with the company, having signed for WWE in 2011, debuting on the main roster the following year.

Many fans often felt frustrated that the SmackDown star wasn't pushed to the full extent of his abilities during his time with WWE.

For what it's worth, Fightful Select noted that this is a feeling that the Swiss wrestler shared, reporting:

Sources indicated "reasonable disappointment" on his part with how he was used, things he was left off of, and spots he didn't fill

Many expect Cesaro to go on to wrestle for another promotion, but one source told Fightful that until that happens, there's every chance he ends up returning to WWE and signing a new deal:

Another said that until he ends up elsewhere, there's always a possibility he could be re-signed. We were told by numerous people within WWE that it didn't appear to be a "door completely closed" or a burned bridge.

Many fans were confused about the news, as it was reported that Cesaro only signed a new deal with WWE last year, but new reports have claimed that the deal was just for one year.
