Liverpool and Chelsea clash at Wembley in the Carabao Cup final on Sunday.

The two sides will do battle for the first domestic trophy of the season. And it's a tough one to call.

Jurgen Klopp's side go into the showpiece event with momentum having got themselves back into the Premier League title race.

Chelsea aren't in bad shape either, having recently been crowned champions of the world after winning the Club World Cup.

There will be plenty of world-class players on show at Wembley with the two managers having a plethora of incredible talent to call upon.

But we wanted to look back at some of the legendary players that have turned out for either side down the years.

Therefore, ahead of the final, we've stuck our neck on the line and attempted to select a Liverpool and Chelsea combined XI from the Premier League era. It wasn't easy and we've had to leave out some quite brilliant players.

It features six Chelsea players and five Liverpool stars.

So, without further ado, check out our XI. If you disagree, that's absolutely fine. Just let us know in the comments section on Facebook what your XI looks like.

Goalkeeper: Petr Cech

This is a straightforward choice, in truth. Yes, current goalkeepers Edouard Mendy and Alisson Becker are both world-class but they have a long way to go to reach Cech's legacy.

Right-back: Trent Alexander-Arnold

Alexander-Arnold is on his way to becoming a Liverpool legend. He's simply brilliant and edges out the likes of Branislav Ivanovic and Cesar Azpilicueta.

Center-back: Virgil van Dijk

Van Dijk is really looking back to his very best and is still probably the best centre-back in world football right now.

Centre-back: John Terry

From the current best centre-back in world football to the best centre-back in Premier League history. What a defensive pairing that would be...

Left-back: Ashley Cole

Andy Robertson is one of the best left-backs in the world right now but Cole is one of the greatest ever.

Central midfield: N'Golo Kante

Kante edges out Claude Makélélé and Xabi Alonso to take a centre-midfield position next to two club legends.

Central midfield: Frank Lampard

Arguably Chelsea's greatest ever player. Lampard helped the club to three Premier League titles, four FA Cups, two League Cups, a Europa League and a Champions League during his time at Stamford Bridge.

Central midfield: Steven Gerrard

From a Chelsea great to one of Liverpool's best ever - certainly in the Premier League era. He so nearly joined Chelsea during his incredible career.

Right wing: Mohamed Salah

This is definitely the Liverpool Salah we're talking about here, not the Chelsea Salah. With 27 goals in all competitions this season, the Egyptian is probably the best player in the world right now.

Left wing: Eden Hazard

Hazard is a club legend having scored 110 goals for Chelsea during his seven seasons. Earlier this week, there were sensational reports from Spain linking him with a loan return to west London.

Striker: Luis Suarez

This was probably the toughest decision of them all. It came down to Suarez vs Didier Drogba. But we're giving this to the man who scored 82 goals in 133 appearances for Liverpool.

Liverpool & Chelsea Premier League combined XI

What an XI that is. Imagine coming up against that side in their prime - absolutely frightening.

When you consider the likes of Alonso, Sadio Mane and Drogba aren't included just about sums it up.
