Josh Taylor’s win over Jack Catterall has caused a lot of kerfuffle and it is not going to go away in the coming days.

Taylor, who was fighting to defend his title, managed to somehow get a decision in his favour, with the judges’ scorecard reading 112-113, 114-111 and 113-112.

It came as a shock to just about everyone, especially considering how the entire fight played out. Or at least, how it appeared to play out according to the majority of boxing fans.

Taylor never really got going, and the cut under his right eye is a fitting proof of his struggles.

Catterall even scored a fantastic knockdown midway through the bout and a win for the challenger felt like a matter of when rather than if.

Just about everyone who watched it live seems to be of the opinion that Catterall should have been the clear winner; however, Carl Froch has a surprisingly different take.

Taking to Twitter to express what he felt, he wrote: “If you go on survival mode for the last four rounds of a World Title fight, the judges do not like it. Especially when you’re the challenger. Opportunity gone!”

Dave Coldwell then responded in a fashion as you would expect him to.

He wrote: “Yep. Agree with that about coasting etc, but what about the other rounds in the bank? Fights are scored round by round.”

It prompted another reaction from Froch. “Absolutely, I’m not saying it couldn’t have gone the other way. I’m just saying he could’ve really made sure. Watching it at home, the wrong man got the decision.”

It's safe to say Froch's tweet hasn't gone down too well and has caused quite the stir on social media, as can be seen in the screenshots below.

Very few would think Catterall didn’t deserve the win. He battered Taylor and that’s a fact.

Then again, what do we know?
