Josh Taylor’s fight against Jack Catterall is now a part of the sport’s infamous folklores.

And as such, do not expect the pundits and professionals alike to close the debate anytime soon.

Wondering what happened? It’s the boxing equivalent of Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen’s title-deciding race. More or less.

What happened is that Catterall bossed the fight all along, including inflicting damage under Taylor’s right eye and flooring him in what was a brilliant punch.

The title defender, for the better part, didn’t have an answer and seemed destined to lose his belts. At the end, however, things took a drastic turn, with the judges awarding the win to the Scotsman.

Most of the sporting world had adjudged Catterall as their winner, but, well, the result was given and there’s nothing that can be done about it.

Catterall has, however, expressed his frustration over Twitter in a no holds barred manner, simply writing: “What a load of s***!"

It is a brief but expressive enough message to convey what most feel about the result.

There is one person, though, who has openly supported the judges’ decision; Carl Froch.

He, like Catterall, took to Twitter, stating: “If you go on survival mode for the last four rounds of a World Title fight, the judges do not like it. Especially when you’re the challenger. Opportunity gone!”

His tweet prompted a discussion of sorts, with trainer Dave Coldwell then replying: “Yep. Agree with that about coasting etc, but what about the other rounds in the bank? Fights are scored round by round."

The discussion can go on and on, really.
