Brenden Aaronson would jump at the chance to join Leeds United in the summer if Jesse Marsch moves into the Elland Road hot seat, according to transfer insider Dean Jones.

The Whites are on the lookout for a new boss after head coach Marcelo Bielsa was sacked by the club following a wretched run of form yesterday.

What's the latest news involving Aaronson?

Prior to Bielsa's Elland Road exit, which chairman Andrea Radrizzani admitted was 'the toughest decision' of his tenure, Aaronson had been firmly on Leeds' radar.

The Yorkshire side looked to prise the creative midfielder away from Austrian outfit Red Bull Salzburg during the January transfer window and saw their opening bid of £15million pushed back.

Although Leeds returned with an improved offer of £20million, Aaronson's current employers were unwilling to sanction his departure.

However, The Athletic correspondent Phil Hay has suggested the Whites feel the 18-cap United States international will be on the market at the end of the season.

It is also known that Aaronson holds dreams of securing a move to the Premier League, which could improve Leeds' hopes of striking a deal further down the line.

But it is not a foregone conclusion that the 21-year-old will end up at Elland Road if he leaves Salzburg as transfer guru Fabrizio Romano has suggested other English clubs could enter the race for his signature.

What has Dean Jones said about Aaronson?

Jones believes Bielsa's departure has not ended Leeds' interest in signing Salzburg talisman Aaronson when the window reopens in the summer.

In fact, the transfer insider feels appointing fellow American Marsch could lead to their target being even more willing to head to Elland Road.

When asked whether Aaronson would still be open to joining the Yorkshire giants despite Bielsa's exit, Jones told GIVEMESPORT: "I think if Marsch were to go to Leeds, he would jump at the chance to do so."

Why would Aaronson be interested in playing under Marsch?

Marsch appears set to succeed Bielsa after Romano revealed the former RB Leipzig boss is just waiting to be granted a work permit before being unveiled.

The 48-year-old has been out of work since December, but he previously worked with Aaronson at Salzburg.

Marsch handed the attacking midfielder 25 appearances during his tenure, with Aaronson showing his threat in the final third by recording seven goals and five assists.

They also won silverware together, with them getting their hands on the Austrian Bundesliga title and Austrian Cup.
