No wonder Jurgen Klopp is so keen for the veteran midfielder, 36, to sign a one-year contract extension. He’s still worth his weight in gold to Liverpool Football Club.

Milner and Elliott added another winners’ medal to their collections thanks to Sunday’s victory over Chelsea.

The Carabao Cup final was eventually decided on penalties after a goalless but entertaining 120 minutes.

Liverpool scored all of their penalties in the shoot-out - goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher netted the Reds’ 11th and final spot-kick - before lifting the trophy when Kepa Arrizabalaga, sent on by Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel specifically for penalties, blazed high over the crossbar.

Elliott doesn’t turn 19 until April but has already won three titles with Liverpool: the UEFA Super Cup, the FIFA Club World Cup and now the Carabao Cup.

What a bright future he has ahead of him; and with teammates like Milner around, he’ll surely be just fine.
