Tottenham new boys Rodrigo Bentancur and Dejan Kulusevski are an upgrade on what Antonio Conte already has at his disposal, according to journalist Pete O'Rourke.

The pair signed from Juventus on deadline day and ended up being Conte's only two January signings.

What's the latest news involving Bentancur and Kulusevski?

Bentancur, who cost £21.5m, might be facing a spell on the sidelines following an ankle problem sustained at Burnley recently, but the duo have already made an impact on the squad.

Both players have started two Premier League games, with Bentancur showing a cool head in the heart of midfield, with an impressive range of passing, while Kulusevski, who's currently on loan but could end up costing the club £29.2m, has made a huge difference in the final third.

The 21-year-old attacker marked his full debut with a goal and assist in the victory at Manchester City before grabbing another against Leeds on Saturday. His two goals mean that only Heung Min Son and Harry Kane have scored more Premier League goals than the Swedish youngster, who's taken to life in English football like a fish to water.

Such is Kulusevski's bright start to his Tottenham career, he's currently keeping both Steven Bergwijn and Lucas Moura out of the side.

What did O'Rourke say about Bentancur and Kulusevski?

He told GIVEMESPORT: "I think that although Conte wasn't happy that Spurs let out more players than they brought in, Kulusevski and Bentancur are definitely an improvement on what they already offer."

Could Bentancur and Kulusevski fire Tottenham into the top four?

Despite disappointing recent defeats to Southampton, Wolves and Burnley since they arrived from Juventus, the pair have already made a difference.

Bentancur looks far from the finished article, but the early signs are that he could end up being an upgrade on Harry Winks, while his quality and braveness on the ball is something the likes of Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and Oliver Skipp don't offer.

Once he returns from injury, there's every chance he could strike up a partnership with Skipp and have Tottenham finally heading in the right direction after so many problems in midfield over the years.

In terms of Kulusevski, he's already shown a great understanding with Son and Kane, and with all three now in excellent goalscoring form, Conte's side could become a dangerous outfit once again.
