Red Bull's Helmut Marko has said that the team believes that they are in amongst the frontrunners after the first Formula 1 test last week in Barcelona.

The Catalunya circuit just outside of Barcelona held the first test of the F1 off-season and the likes of Mercedes, Red Bull, Ferrari and McLaren all showed good strength.

Indeed, the hope will be that they can all continue that into the new season as we'll then be set for a classic but, of course, predictions are hard to make based on a few days of testing.

Even so, Marko has said that he believes Red Bull have shown that they are going to be at the sharp end once again this season, and they could be joined by the likes of Ferrari and McLaren.

Speaking to Motorsport Magazin, he said:

“We believe that we are among the frontrunners.

“Ferrari seems to be strong and McLaren is also there.”

Ferrari are being tipped by many to challenge this year after a year of progression in 2021 and early switching to the development of their 2022 car last season.

McLaren also had a productive 2021 campaign and looked solid in testing, whilst you can surely expect Mercedes to be right in the thick of it at the front as they look to keep their run of Constructors' crowns going.
