Formula 1 is approaching its new era in 2022 with the new season just around the corner.

Testing took place in Barcelona last week and we got a proper look at each team's new machine, with some eye-catching colour schemes to boot.

Here, we rank them from 10-1...

10. Haas

Haas have removed the red, white and blue detail they had for chief sponsor Uralkali for reasons well known and it remains to be seen whether or not a new partner is announced in due course.

At the moment, though, it looks largely the same as what it did last year bar that removal and pretty plain - that's obviously not their fault but we'll put them in at 10 for now.

9. Red Bull

The Red Bull is a very intriguing-looking thing with dramatic undercuts around the sidepods but we can't ignore the fact it's the same livery as pretty much every other Red Bull there's ever been.

Of course, it's a classic design and there's nothing massively wrong with it, but we're ranking new looks here and bar Oracle's logo being stuck everywhere it's as you were with the dark blue, red and yellow.

8. McLaren

We might annoy a few with this low ranking. We liked the McLaren last year and the Gulf livery it had for Monaco but in trying to repeat that for this season we're not sure it's quite worked. Even so, plenty like it and so it's perhaps one to split opinion.

7. Williams

Williams have actually produced a really nice car here, it's just that so many others have also unveiled stunners. The extra blue makes this a classy looking car.

6. Aston Martin

The Aston has got different shades of green and it looks a step up from the pink touches it had last year - the drivers will hope it's a step in performance too.

5. Mercedes

The silver is back for the Silver Arrows and it looks brilliant.

We think it combines particularly well with the tyres and their different colour codes, whilst the Petronas branding is a nice contrast to the silver.

4. Alpine

Many thought pink would come into the Alpine's colour scheme with the arrival of BWT as main sponsors and so that's proven.

It's a nice combo and certainly seems to have won plenty of fans over since its launch.

3. Alfa Romeo

It's an Alfa, it's going to look good.

They ran in a test livery last week and the camo caught the imagination but this retro feel to their C42 is a really nice approach - let's hope it can climb the field and show off its colours at the right end.

2. AlphaTauri

It's perhaps no surprise that Red Bull's fashion arm, AlphaTauri continues to produce stylish-looking cars. It's another winner looks-wise from the men from Faenza.

1. Ferrari

Charles Leclerc Ferrari

Ferrari have produced a classic this season. The darker red and black elements make it a throwback to some of its most iconic looking machines in the late 80s/early 90s and they'll just hope they have a bit more success than they did in that period!
