The plans that WWE has for Vince McMahon's shock return match at WrestleMania 38 has now been revealed.

Over the weekend, news broke that WWE Chairman Vince McMahon will be returning to the ring for a shock match at WrestleMania 38 in April.

The report, which came from POST Wrestling, noted that the plan for the show is for the 76-year-old to go one-on-one with SmackDown commentator and former NFL star Pat McAfee.

The match, if it does go ahead as planned, will be McMahon's first since he shared the ring with CM Punk back on Monday Night Raw in October 2012.

Now, Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer has confirmed that he's heard the match between McAfee and McMahon is slated for WrestleMania.

Regarding the Vince McMahon vs. Pat McAfee match at WrestleMania, the match was confirmed to be on the books for the lineup

Meltzer also noted that fans watching the show shouldn't expect the match to be a standard bout between the two men, as the encounter is expected to contain a lot of "smoke and mirrors":

Vince is 76 years old and while he will be advertised for a match, we're told it will be complete smoke and mirrors event

The issue isn't McMahon's age, and the fact he hasn't wrestled in just shy of ten years, but also due to McAfee's inexperience, so a match with a load of extra bits added to it makes the most sense.

The feud between McAfee and McMahon will start this week, with Vince set to be a guest on Pat's podcast this coming Thursday.
