UFC Fastest Knockout

Askren vs Masvidal in the UFC octagon

The fastest knockout in UFC history occurred at UFC 239 in the Welterweight division contest between Jorge Masvidal and Ben Askren.

Masvidal was able to finish Askren in just 5 seconds, with an unbelievable flying knee that took out the wrestling specialist in an unbelievably quick fashion.

Askren appeared to be going straight in for a double leg takedown right at the opening bell, but Masvidal had already decided to run headlong into the oncoming fighter with a brutal knee that ended the fight quicker than any other in company history.

The now-iconic finish has come to be the biggest moment of Masvidal’s career thus far and will be part of highlight packages for years to come.

Is Ben Askren still fighting?

It’s arguable that Askren never truly recovered from the quick finish, with the former ONE Championship great losing to Demain Maia a few months after in October 2019.

Askren’s last notable move in combat sports was his loss to Jake Paul, which was a major PPV boxing event for Triller. It's like Askren will never fight competitively again.

Masvidal has also been on the losing end since his huge knockout win over Askren, losing to Kamaru Usman and Colby Covington.
