Wolves fans growing frustrated with striker Raul Jimenez is understandable, according to journalist Dean Jones.

Jimenez has spent the last four years at Molineux, and has been a loyal servant to the club, but he is yet to find his best form this season.

What are Jimenez's stats this season?

After missing the majority of last season due to suffering a fractured skull in November 2020, Jimenez has returned to the Wolves squad this term.

In 24 top-flight appearances, the £19.8m-rated forward has managed to score five goals while also chipping in with three assists - none of his teammates have been involved in more goals.

However, he has only netted twice in his last 12 league matches, and he was left out of Wolves' starting line-up for their game against West Ham on Sunday.

What has Jones said about Jimenez?

Having been dropped to the bench on the weekend, it was suggested to Jones that Wolves supporters may be getting a little frustrated with Jimenez's lack of end product.

When asked if he could understand if this was the case, Jones told GIVEMESPORT: “A little bit. But I think everyone’s got to consider what’s happened to Jimenez, and maybe we’re all expecting too much from him, even at this stage, for a player that suffered such a severe head injury.”

Do Wolves fans just need to be patient with Jimenez?

Jones makes a good point when referring to how long Jimenez was sidelined for with his head injury. It is no surprise that he has not been firing on all cylinders since his return.

The 91-cap international has still made some valuable contributions this season, though, scoring match-winning goals against Southampton, Everton and West Ham across the course of the campaign.

With this in mind, it would be unfair to say that Jimenez has looked completely off the pace, and he has played well enough to suggest that he still has plenty left in the tank following his lengthy absence.

Unfortunately for Jimenez, there is very little room for sentiment in football. Fans will be hoping that he can reach the level that he was performing at prior to his injury, but he may not be able to get back to that standard.

If that is the case, Wolves could be forced to look for a new striker in the summer as they aim to build on their promising first campaign under Bruno Lage.
