Tottenham Hotspur have been knocked out of the FA Cup after losing 1-0 to Championship side Middlesbrough.Josh Coburn’s thumping strike in the second-half of the extra-time sealed Spurs’ fate.Antonio Conte can have no complaints about the defeat. His second were poor throughout and deserved to exit.

Coburn wins it for Middlesbrough

Middlesbrough had chances to win the game in regulation time, with Jonny Howson squandering a great chance to snatch the win late on when he couldn't get a header on target.

Chris Wilder's side continued to threaten in the additional period and they got their reward in the 107th minute.

19-year-old Coburn had been brought on in extra-time and he smashed home the winner after finding space in Spurs' area.

That's some finish from the young lad.

'Boro's special FA Cup run

The result continues Middlesbrough's glorious run in the FA Cup and they have now knocked out Premier League sides in two consecutive rounds.

Their win over Manchester United in the fourth round was a major scalp and they've done it once again.

'Boro are on the fringes of the Championship play-off places after a resurgence since hiring Wilder in November and there's clearly not a team left in the competition they are afraid of.

They were worthy winners against Spurs, managing 16 shots to their opponents' 15 and shading the possession with 51%.

Spurs' trophy drought goes on

And what about Spurs?

Well, what can you say.

Perhaps the most inconsistent team around right now, the defeat marks another trophyless season for the north London club.

Their last trophy came in 2008 when they won the League Cup and you'd have to say there are no signs that the drought will end any time soon.

Quite how a team can follow up a 4-0 win against Leeds United with a woeful defeat at Middlesbrough is anyone's guess.

But that is Conte's Spurs right now.

They lost three in a row before beating Manchester City - and then went and lost to Burnley.

The Italian must be tearing his hair out at his side's inconsistency.
