Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez's war of words with Gennady Golovkin continued after the Mexican claimed his former opponent 'talks a lot of s***'.

The 31-year-old - who has previously fought Golovkin twice before already - is currently preparing to challenge Dmitry Bivol for the WBA light heavyweight title at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas on May 7.

The undisputed super-middleweight world champion will reportedly bank £63-million from his two fight deal with DAZN, with Eddie Hearn expressing his delight at working with the current pound-for-pound boxer in the world once again.

It's been an incredible couple of years for Canelo Alvarez, with the Mexican knocking out Caleb Plant in November to unify the 168lbs division.

Wins against Callum Smith and Billy Joe Saunders in the United States set him on the road to undisputed, while he also made a mandatory defence of his WBC belt against Avni Yildrim early last year.

And Canelo has also been linked to a trilogy fight against Golovkin later this year.

Alvarez and Golovkin first fought to a draw in Las Vegas in September 2017.

The Mexican won their rematch - which is still disputed to this day - a year later.

However, Golovkin recently claimed that because of the close nature of those first two fights he knows exactly 'how to open him up'.

Unsurprisingly, it seems Alvarez didn't take too kindly to Golovkin's comments, as he swore revenge on his old rival.

Canelo told FightHype.com: "We have this deal, they want the fight with Golovkin, and I say I know everybody wants this fight.

"Maybe a little late, maybe not, but everybody still wants this fight.

"Yeah. He talks a lot of s***.

"He talked a lot of things, but we're gonna see.

"First things first, right, we need to win May 7th. I'm focused 100 per cent on this fight. It's not an easy fight, it's a hard fight for me.

"100 per cent on this fight and then we'll talk about that fight."

But first he will have to get past Bivol, which will be no easy task.

Standing at 6 ft tall, Bivol is almost a full three inches taller than Canelo, with a considerable reach advantage as well.

But Canelo has never been one to shy away from a challenge.

Speaking at the press conference, he said: "I don't care. I like challenges. That makes me feel alive for me and everything in my life.

"So I like a really good challenge and now I have a very good fighter in front of me.

"I'm excited for this fight.

"He's a really tough fighter, and it's going to be a really good fight for Cinco de Mayo weekend for my people in Las Vegas and Mexican weekend, and I'm really excited.

"I'm going to prepare myself really good because this fight is going to be really hard."
