McGregor vs Diaz 3

Speaking back at the UFC 264 press conference, McGregor stated that the fight “has” to happen, leading fans to believe that they could see it eventually.

He said: "It's for sure gonna happen, it must happen. We're one and one and must happen. It will happen and I look forward to the day."

UFC President Dana White confirmed in an interview with TMZ that he would be “shocked” if the fight did not go ahead.

“We’re still working on [Diaz vs. Poirier], that fight’s not done yet,” White revealed. “But yeah, I wouldn’t count out Conor-Nate 3. I’d be shocked if that fight didn’t happen again.”

However, Diaz himself replied to the comments from White, saying that “Conor’s gonna have to get him some wins and prove he’s not so fragile first.”

So at this point, the fight has not been confirmed, but the President of the UFC has revealed that he can see it happening, it’s likely down to contract issues.

There’s a very good reason for the UFC to get this fight secured and on the docket. McGregor is already the highest PPV drawing fighter in the history of the sport, and there’s a genuine chance that he could walk out of a fight against Diaz the victor.

The company reportedly extended Diaz’s UFC contract back in December 2021, so there’s still time to put together this box office banker of a trilogy fight!

As a potential date, we're expecting to see this fight in Q4 2022, but as this is a pure guess there's no guarantee of it happening.
