Carlo Ancelotti has "always been interested" in taking the manager's job at Manchester United, according to journalist Dean Jones.

The Italian coach is currently at the helm at Real Madrid, but he could be set for a return to the Premier League in the future.

What's the latest news involving Ancelotti?

Ancelotti has managed some of the biggest clubs in Europe during his illustrious career, including AC Milan, Juventus and PSG, and he has won the Champions League on three occasions.

The 62-year-old has also coached in England twice before, taking Chelsea to the Premier League title in 2010, before returning to manage Everton in 2019.

Now, he could be in line for the manager's position at United. According to reports, Ancelotti is a candidate for the job, alongside Mauricio Pochettino, Erik ten Hag and Luis Enrique.

What has Jones said about Ancelotti?

Real Madrid are currently 1-0 down in their round of 16 Champions League tie against PSG, and Jones has hinted that Ancelotti's job at the Spanish giants could be under scrutiny.

He has also claimed that Ancelotti is keen on the Old Trafford job, and United's hierarchy admire his qualities in the dugout.

Jones told GIVEMESPORT: "I'm hearing Carlo Ancelotti's job at Real Madrid is not completely safe so let's see how their Champions League second leg with PSG goes. He has always been interested in the Man United job, and vice-versa, so the sudden links between the two seem pretty timely."

Will Ancelotti get the Man United job?

Despite being linked with the role, it still seems that he is some way down United's ideal pecking order.

It has been reported that Pochettino remains United's first-choice option as they appear to fancy their chances of luring him away from PSG at the end of the season.

Ten Hag and Enrique may also be preferred candidates to Ancelotti, and they are currently doing well in their respective jobs for Ajax and Spain.

However, if United do opt to go down the route of bringing in someone with experience, Ancelotti could be the man for the job, having proved himself as a serial winner over the years.
