Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo’s extraordinary rivalry in La Liga will never be forgotten. They spurred each other on to score an absurd numbers of goals between 2009-2018.Messi would score two or three goals for Barcelona one night while Ronaldo would respond by netting two, three or four goals for Real Madrid the following evening and vice-versa.The Clasicos involving Messi and Ronaldo are some of the best football matches, in terms of quality and drama, in history. One of the most dramatic Clasicos came in November 2010 when Pep Guardiola’s Barcelona famously thrashed Jose Mourinho’s Real Madrid 5-0 at Camp Nou.VOTE NOW: The GMS February Fan AwardsNine days earlier, in their previous La Liga fixture, Barça demolished Almeria 8-0.Messi helped himself to a hat-trick (naturally), Bojan Krkic netted a brace, while Andres Iniesta and Pedro also got themselves on the scoresheet.ALMERIA, SPAIN - NOVEMBER 20: Lionel Messi of Barcelona takes on the UD Almeria defense during the La Liga match between UD Almeria and Barcelona at Estadio del Mediterraneo on November 20, 2010 in Almeria, Spain. Ronaldo: Barcelona 8-0 doesn't tell me anything

One person who wasn’t overly impressed, though, was Ronaldo.

"(The 8-0 win) It doesn't tell me anything," the Portuguese forward told reporters, per FourFourTwo. "Let's see if they score eight against us on Monday."

A video that has gone viral on social media, however, claims Ronaldo said: “Let’s see if Barça can score half of that against us on Monday”.

Either way, Ronaldo was confident that Real Madrid would bring the Catalan club back down to earth with a bump.

Messi and Barcelona ended up having the last laugh

However, it was Messi who had the last laugh, inspiring Barcelona to a famous 5-0 win over Los Blancos.

The Argentine provided two excellent assists in the rout and produced arguably the coldest walk of his career shortly before full-time after finding himself on the receiving end of a Sergio Ramos horror challenge.

These legendary moments will live on forever.
