Canadian rapper Drake lost a staggering sum of money on Saturday night night after Colby Covington beat Jorge Masvidal by unanimous decision at UFC 272.Covington and Masvidal used to be friends however, they recently became rivals and saw each other face off in the UFC Octagon last night.Covington was the bookie's favourite to win last night but despite this, Drake still thought it would be wise to put a quarter of a million dollars on Masvidal. It was all in Covington’s favour to win last night, he was the younger fighter and had won his last two fights coming into this one. However as the result showed, Masvidal lost the fight and the multi-platinum selling artist also lost $275,000.The main event at UFC 272 saw Covington control most of the match and he managed to take down his opponent several times and even had him pinned down on the mat for long periods at a time.

Fans took to social media to mock Drake for his loss of earnings saying the rapper would be crying right now and some pointed out that the Drake ‘curse’ lives on.

The ‘curse’ is said to go back as far as 2013 when Drake is seen with sports teams and stars and then once he has met them, they end up losing.

Some examples are Conor McGregor, in his loss to Khabib Nurmagomedov, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Jadon Sancho, the Juventus football team, tennis star Serena Williams and even Anthony Joshua have seen losses since meeting Drake.

So his recent bet on Masvidal proved that his curse lives on however this time Drake also lost out financially.

If I was a sports star, I would stay well clear of Drake.
