Timo Werner will be the first to admit that he hasn't lived up to expectations at Chelsea.

There was much excitement surrounding the German when he made the £47.5 million move to west London in 2020.

But he's had numerous struggles in front of goal during his time at the club, scoring just seven Premier League goals in 47 games.

However, despite his poor showing in front of goal in a blue shirt, Werner is still a popular figure among Chelsea fans.

He always gives it his all on the football pitch, even when things aren't going his way.

He also has a likeable personality which has also helped make him a popular figure.

Werner further endeared himself to Chelsea fans with a brilliant interview he gave after Chelsea won the Champions League final in 2021.

Werner was asked whether Chelsea going into the final as underdogs gave them even more motivation to win.

The 26-year-old either couldn't hear the question or didn't understand what the reporter was saying. He came up with an iconic answer and you can watch it again below...

He replied: "I don't understand the question, but I don't care we won the trophy! Everything is good! Next question!"

It's impossible to hate Werner. He comes across as a likeable footballer who is respectful and always honest in interviews.

Werner knows he hasn't performed as expected and he's doing everything he can to be a success at Chelsea.

Speaking in January, he said, per Premier League presenter Olivia Buzaglo: “Sometimes I don’t know why they are supporting me so much, because I’m a striker and I want to score but miss chances.

“It makes it so fun to play in front of the Chelsea fans & when they give the support they give me, it makes me stronger when I miss chances or have hard times. I try to give my best every game, 100% to make sure the team are happy.”

Time is running out for Werner to be a success at the club. He hasn't started any of Chelsea's last 11 Premier League games.

Hopefully he can start hitting the back of the net on a regular basis soon.
