Micah Richards couldn’t help but laugh as Roy Keane tore into Manchester United’s players following Sunday’s 4-1 defeat against Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium.
United were embarrassed by their local rivals and their top-four hopes suffered a major blow in the process.
Nineteen points separated the two rivals at the start of the afternoon. The ‘noisy neighbours’ as Sir Alex Ferguson once described them are now unquestionably Manchester’s dominant team.
And it took Pep Guardiola’s side just five minutes to take the lead through Kevin De Bruyne, who tucked home Bernardo Silva’s pass following some half-hearted defending from the visitors.
Jadon Sancho, a former City youth player, silenced the home crowd with an unexpected equaliser in the 22nd minute.
But the Premier League leaders restored their advantage six minutes later though De Bruyne, who finished from close range following some great work from Phil Foden in the build-up.
De Bruyne, the game’s outstanding performer, then added an assist in the second half as Riyad Mahrez netted a third goal for City.
Mahrez’s goal was superb, even with the deflection off Harry Maguire, but Joao Cancelo almost went one better in the 81st minute with an audacious acrobatic effort which forced a save from David de Gea.
Mahrez then inflicted further pain on United with a late fourth goal.
It was an embarrassing afternoon for Ralf Rangnick and his players, who were comprehensively outclassed, outfought and outplayed – particularly during the second half.
What did Roy Keane say after Man City 4-1 Man Utd?
Keane criticised United’s players for giving up during the second half.
“They gave up,” Keane said. “Shame on them.”

Micah Richards bursts out laughing at Roy Keane
As the former Man Utd captain finished his rant, Richards burst out laughing.
“I was trying to hold it in!” Richards said.
“Honestly. Why don’t you take over the job? You could do a better job than what they’re doing down there.”

Never change, Roy.
And never change, Micah!
Keane grew increasingly angry as he tried to explain United’s dismal performance:
🗣 "These guys it's all about how am I looking, am I looking the part? Are my boots nice? Hows my hair looking? Just play the game." 🤬— Football Daily (@footballdaily) March 6, 2022
