Wolves will be desperate to keep hold of defender Max Kilman this summer, says journalist Pete O'Rourke.

The 24-year-old has impressed this season and is now being linked with a move away from Molineux.

What is the latest news involving Kilman?

According to talkSPORT, Chelsea are considering making a bid for Kilman when the transfer window is open again.

The same outlet claims that the Blues have been scouting the 6 ft 4 centre-back, with the club potentially set to lose Antonio Rudiger, Cesar Azpilicueta and Andreas Christensen, whose contracts all expire at the end of the season.

Kilman has been ever-present for Wolves this term and part of a defence that has conceded just 23 Premier League goals, showing his importance to Bruno Lage's side.

Given his form, an England call-up has been mooted, with Gareth Southgate in attendance at Molineux for Wolves' recent 2-0 loss to Crystal Palace.

What has O'Rourke said about Kilman and Wolves?

A move to the European champions is likely to appeal to Kilman, who is a boyhood Blues fan. However, O'Rourke is certain he is a player Wolves will not want to let go of this summer.

Speaking to GIVEMESPORT, the transfer insider said: "Everything's going well for Max Kilman at the minute, but Wolves will be desperate to keep hold of him.

"But I'm sure there will be a few clubs looking in the summer, ready to test their resolve."

Will Kilman end up leaving Wolves this summer?

You can see why Chelsea would want Kilman. He did not have a great game against Palace, recording a disappointing match rating on WhoScored before being taken off. However, overall, he has been pretty solid this season.

"He looks really good in the Premier League. He looks assured, he’s played every minute this season. Everything about his game is mature," former Manchester City defender and title winner Micah Richards said on Match of the Day (via Molineux News) back in January when talking about the Wolves star.

Frustratingly for Chelsea, though, Kilman recently signed a new contract until 2026, meaning the Midlands club do not need to sell in the upcoming transfer window.

Ultimately, if the west London outfit or any other side want to sign Kilman, then they are probably going to have to cough up a lot of money, so it is not a certainty that the centre-half will leave Molineux this summer.
