Wolves are in a far from ideal situation with Joao Moutinho and Romain Saiss, says journalist Pete O'Rourke.

Both players are out of contract in the summer, leaving the Midlands club with quite a dilemma on their hands.

What is the latest news involving Moutinho and Saiss?

Moutinho and Saiss do not seem close to signing new deals at Molineux, with the latter now attracting interest from other sides.

According to Hespress, Sevilla want to bring in the 31-year-old this summer as they look to bolster their defence and challenge Real Madrid again for the La Liga title.

There is still plenty of time, however, for the Wolves pair to put pen to paper on new contracts. And manager Bruno Lage is still hopeful, recently speaking about his desire to keep hold of Moutinho.

"I hope so,” Lage was quoted as saying by Birmingham Live when asked if he thinks his compatriot will sign an extension.

"Yesterday in training he scored an amazing goal and I said to him, ‘If you score a goal like that on Saturday you will be my assistant! Don’t go anywhere, you will be my assistant!’"

What has O'Rourke said about Moutinho and Saiss?

For O'Rourke, Wolves have left themselves in a bit of a hole by letting things get to this point.

"It's an interesting one. Wolves have let their contracts run down, which is not ideal," the transfer insider told GIVEMESPORT when discussing the situation surrounding Moutinho and Saiss.

Should Moutinho and Saiss remain at Wolves?

Given where they are now in the La Liga table, a move to Sevilla this summer may appeal to Saiss. But for both players, who have made 165 and 200 club appearances respectively, staying at Molineux does not sound like a terrible option.

While Wolves' form has recently taken a dip, with the Midlands club losing their last three games, they look to be on the up under Lage.

Despite those few defeats, Lage's men are still in contention for European football and have one of the best defensive records in the Premier League.

In 27 games, they have conceded just 23 goals, which is a really impressive feat. If they can add more firepower to their side next term, then Wolves could climb to that next level, making them a good team to play for.

Ultimately, Moutinho, Saiss or anyone else who is considering leaving Wolves should maybe think twice, as they are already at a competitive club who are progressing after a stale 2020/21 season.
