Colby Covington Next Fight

UPDATE 2nd June 2022: Dustin Poirier has now revealed that he is willing to face Covington. Speaking to MMAFighting, he said: “I don’t hate anyone, but if there was a line right before hate, Colby’s standing right there. I really dislike the guy, and I’ve been saying I don’t want him to make a dollar off of fighting me, but they offered me him last week... It was either wait to the end of the year and fight for a No. 1 contender at lightweight, or fight in July, and that was the name that they gave me. So I was like, ‘F*** it.’"

Original: As noted, it is not confirmed who Covington will be fighting next, but he did call out 155-pound fighter Dustin Poirier after defeating Masvidal at UFC 272.

Poirier responded to Covington’s challenge following his main event fight against Masvidal, and Covington would address the tweet at the UFC 272 post-fight press conference.

Covington said: “Let’s do it, bro. He said it’s on sight. Let’s do it. Stop talking reckless in the media. If I talk to the media and say things, I come out here and back it up. I’m a man of my word.

“So we can do it anywhere. We don’t have to do it in the UFC octagon. If he wants to do it in a park, or in a street, my one stipulation is that you let the world watch it and enjoy themselves.”

UFC President Dana White also addressed the situation with Covington at the UFC 272 post-fight press conference.

He said: “I don’t know, that’s a good question. We knew tonight, whoever lost, ‘What would be next?’ and ‘Where would they go?’ And I don’t know, sitting right here, right now, I don’t know. On either one of them, even Colby, who won.

“The thing is too is that after a while no matter how much you hate him, you’ve at least got to respect him. The guy keeps winning fights and he’s a tough dude.”

We will update this page as and when the next opponent for Covington is officially announced by the UFC!
