PSG's Kylian Mbappe injured by Idrissa Gueye’s tackle ahead of Real Madrid

Kylian Mbappe is a serious doubt for Paris Saint-Germain’s Champions League clash against Real Madrid on Wednesday, according to various reports.

French outlets L’Equipe and Le Parisien are reporting that Mbappe suffered a ‘big knock’ on his foot and was taken to hospital in serious pain.

Early assessment suggests he escaped without a fracture and serious injury but his involvement in the second leg at the Bernabeu is now in doubt.

PSG fans will be praying Mbappe recovers in time for the trip to Spain.

After all, the French superstar was the difference between the two sides in the first leg.

Real Madrid travelled to the Parc des Princes and held firm for more than 90 minutes.

Lionel Messi’s missed penalty looked to be decisive as the match entered injury-time in the second half with the scores still level at 0-0.

But then Mbappe turned up.

He collected the ball from Neymar, beat Dani Carvajal and finished past Thibaut Courtois. It was a brilliant goal.

And it was his 13th strike in his last 13 Champions League appearances.

Footage has now emerged of the injury Mbappe sustained in training – and Idrissa Gueye might wish it hadn’t.

That’s because it shows the PSG midfielder catching Mbappe on the top of his foot with a strong challenge – leaving him writhing around in pain.

If Mbappe does miss the second leg, Gueye will be desperate PSG still manage to go through or else his own supporters may not take too kindly to him!

There have been plenty of reports linking Mbappe with a move to Real Madrid in the summer when his current deal at Paris Saint-Germain expires.

But after the match, the striker insisted he wasn’t distracted by the rumours.

“It was a great game for us and I’m always ready to help my team, there are no distractions,” Mbappe said after the match.

“We have to be humble and the second leg is still open. It will be a hard game but we will have the advantage and are very confident.”
