Tottenham are prioritising Middlesbrough's Isaiah Jones over other right wing-back options right now, according to transfer insider Dean Jones.

It is a position manager Antonio Conte was keen to strengthen in January but was unable to, meaning one could arrive in the summer.

What is the latest news involving Jones?

According to 90min, Tottenham have asked to be kept informed over the future of Jones as they look to improve the right side of their defence.

Interest in the 22-year-old comes after the north London club recently missed out on Adama Traore. The Times reported that Conte had identified him as the man to solve the team's issue at right wing-back before his loan move to Barcelona.

Since then, Spurs have been linked with Southampton's Tino Livramento and Jones' Middlesbrough team-mate Djed Spence, who is presently out on loan at Nottingham Forest.

Football Insider claims the Premier League outfit have set their sights on signing the former Chelsea academy player, while Goal has stated that they are currently the favourites to land Spence.

What has Jones said about Tottenham's pursuit of a new right wing-back?

Jones has told GIVEMESPORT that out of Jones, Livramento and Spence, the first of the three is Tottenham's priority.

Speaking to GMS, the football journalist said: "From what I'm told, Isaiah Jones has actually emerged as a player of higher priority for Tottenham in the next window."

Who should Tottenham sign?

Jones, Livramento and Spence are young so all have the time and potential to develop into really good players.

However, Livramento, who is already playing at Premier League level and has been thriving, looks like the best option here.

The 19-year-old has really impressed at Southampton this season, with former Leeds United striker Noel Whelan recently praising him.

“Livramento is a young player who is doing brilliantly for a club playing a very attractive brand of football," Whelan told Football Insider. “Going forward he’s a threat but he knows his job defensively as well, and that’ll be valued highly by Conte.”

What may make Livramento less appealing than the likes of Jones and Spence, however, is his price tag. The English youngster is highly valued by Southampton and has a contract until 2026 having just joined the club.

Taking that into account, it is not a surprise to hear that Tottenham are prioritising Jones, who they can probably get for a good price if Chris Wilder's men fail to win promotion this season. But if that was not a factor, then you would have to say that Livramento should be the right wing-back Spurs throw everything at.
