Everton fans are not happy with the state of the current squad under new manager Frank Lampard, according to journalist Paul Brown.

Lampard replaced Rafael Benitez at Goodison Park at the end of January, but he has been unable to turn Everton's form around in the league.

How have Everton fared under Lampard to date?

There have been some positive signs for the Toffees since Lampard arrived.

The side have managed to navigate their way into the quarter-finals of the FA Cup thanks to home wins over Brentford and Boreham Wood, while they also picked up a convincing league victory over Leeds last month.

That Leeds win is their only top-flight triumph under Lampard, though, as they have lost their other four matches with the former Chelsea boss at the helm.

Three of those defeats have been away from home, and their latest loss was their most embarrassing so far as they were hammered 5-0 by Tottenham on Monday.

What has Brown said about the Everton squad?

Everton sit just a point above the relegation zone, and their performance against Tottenham was extremely concerning.

Brown has also claimed that the club's supporters are not impressed at all with the displays being produced by some squad members, including forward Dominic Calvert-Lewin.

Speaking to GIVEMESPORT at Calvert-Lewin, Brown said: “He’s come back but he clearly wasn’t 100% fit against Southampton, when I saw him play there. He got a lot of stick for not trying hard enough but Lampard said afterwards that it’s going to take him a while to shake off the rust and get back to his best.

“There’s a bit of disillusionment, in general, about a lot of the players in the squad.”

Could the atmosphere at Everton ultimately cost the team their place in the Premier League?

If they're not careful, it could well do.

Right now, Everton are involved in a relegation dogfight, and they need everyone pulling in the same direction, including the fans.

Lampard's men look set to be battling with the likes of Burnley, Leeds and Brentford for a place in the top-flight next season.

Under Sean Dyche, Burnley are likely to fight until the end, while Leeds could be reinvigorated having recently appointed Jesse Marsch, and Brentford got back to winning ways on the weekend against Norwich.

These teams appear to be up for the scrap for survival that awaits them, and Everton will need to get their fans on board in the final weeks of the season to avoid the dreaded drop into the Championship.
