Alex Kral's West Ham United future 'is in jeopardy' after failing to nail down a regular starting spot and Hammers boss David Moyes will look to buy a replacement in the summer, according to transfer insider Dean Jones.

Kral headed to the London Stadium on an initial season-long loan from Spartak Moscow last August, although the deal includes a view to being made permanent.

What's the latest news involving Kral?

Upon joining West Ham, Kral admitted to being 'exciting' by the 'big challenge' of adjusting to the Premier League, but he has not been offered many opportunities to do so.

The 23-year-old has been offered just 255 minutes of action by Moyes, suggesting he has failed to gain the trust of the Hammers chief.

That was emphasised when Moyes opted to deploy Manuel Lanzini in a deeper role in the absence of Declan Rice for the defeat to Liverpool on Saturday rather than giving Kral the nod.

Kral has hinted the 29-cap Czech Republic international has not done enough to force his way into the first-team picture.

According to French media outlet Foot Mercato, Ligue One outfit Montpellier are interested in securing the defensive midfielder's services when the transfer window reopens in the summer.

What has Dean Jones said about Kral?

Jones believes Kral is unlikely to have a long-term future at West Ham despite the club having the option of turning his loan agreement into a permanent one.

The transfer insider feels Moyes is already scouring the market to find a better option than Kral who could provide stiff competition for first-choice central midfielders Rice and Tomas Soucek.

He has tipped the Hammers to succeed in bringing in an alternative option during the summer window, meaning the east Londoners will choose not to keep Kral on their books.

Jones told GIVEMESPORT: "I think that his future at the club is in jeopardy now. I actually do expect West Ham to look to sign somebody else instead of him in the summer."

What other central midfielders have West Ham been linked with?

According to The Sun, West Ham tested Leeds United's resolve by submitting a £50million bid for Kalvin Phillips in the final days of the January transfer window.

Having seen their offer turned down, the report suggests the Hammers will return with a fresh proposal at the end of the season because Moyes 'loves Phillips for his skill and industry'.

Meanwhile, TEAMtalk have revealed the east Londoners have joined Leeds, Crystal Palace, Wolverhampton Wanderers, Burnley and Norwich City in targeting Huddersfield Town's Lewis O'Brien.
