Liverpool are through to the Champions League quarter-finals and the quadruple is still on.

Jurgen Klopp may brand the talk of winning four competitions this season as "crazy" but we're set to enter Spring and the Reds can still dream.

They claimed the Carabao Cup at the end of February after triumphing over Chelsea in a penalty shootout.

Now, after overcoming Inter Milan over two legs, they're through to the last-eight of the Champions League.

Next weekend, they face Championship side, Nottingham Forest, for a place in the FA Cup semi-final.

Meanwhile, while they trail Manchester City by six points in the Premier League, they do have a game in hand and have to travel to the Etihad next month.

Everything is in their hands.

Something that isn't in Liverpool's hands are the draws in cup competitions.

The draw for the Champions League quarter and semi-finals take place next Friday. Bayern Munich and Liverpool have already booked their place but are set to be joined by the likes of Man City and Chelsea, and one of Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain and one of Manchester United and Atletico Madrid.

When you reach this stage of the season, the matches come thick and fast and Liverpool fans are already imagining the potential fixture list that could await them in April.

In fact, one Liverpool supporter has got ahead of himself and worked out what the schedule could look like if Liverpool drew Premier League rivals Man City in both the Champions League and FA Cup.

Answer: Absolute carnage.

Imagine Liverpool playing Man City FOUR times in a row in less than two weeks. And then just casually finishing off the month against rivals Man Utd and Everton.

How Liverpool's April could look if they draw Man City in both cups

  • 5/6 April - Man City - Champions League
  • 10 April - Man City - Premier League (A)
  • 12/13 April - Man City - Champions League
  • 16/17 April - Man City - FA Cup (N)
  • 19/20 April - Man United - Premier League (H)
  • 23/24 April - Everton - Premier League (H)

That would be incredible.

Michael Owen feels it would be 'mouthwatering' but we're not too sure every Liverpool fan would think the same...

What needs to happen?

But what needs to happen to make it a possibility?

Well, while Liverpool are 100% in the Champions League quarters, Man City are 99.99% through after a 5-0 victory in their first leg against Sporting Lisbon. They would then need to draw each other in the quarter-final draw.

Meanwhile, in the FA Cup, Liverpool need to beat Forest and City face a trip to Southampton. Again, they would need to be drawn against each other in the semis - which would take place at Wembley.

The Premier League fixture against Man Utd is yet to be rescheduled but would almost certainly take place in the midweek of 19th or 20th of April if the above happens.

Has something like this happened before?

Many of you may remember when Real Madrid and Barcelona faced something similar back in 2010/11. The two El Clasico rivals faced off on four occasions in the space of 18 days in three different competitions.

Their first meeting on April 16 was a 1-1 draw in La Liga. Barcelona were looking to wrap up the title and a penalty apiece from Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi was a decent result for them at the Bernabeu.

They followed that up four days later in the Copa del Rey final with Real Madrid lifting the trophy thanks to a 1-0 victory after extra-time thanks to Ronaldo's goal.

While Ronaldo was the hero in the Copa del Rey, the Champions League semi-finals which came next belonged to Messi. He scored twice at the Bernabeu as Barca won the first leg 2-0. A 1-1 draw sealed their passage to the final where they beat Manchester United.

Could we see something similar with Liverpool and City?

Of course, even if Liverpool avoid Man City and end up drawing Bayern Munich or PSG in the Champions League and Chelsea in the FA Cup, the fixture list is still going to look something like:

An alternative April schedule for Liverpool

  • 5/6 April - PSG/Bayern - Champions League
  • 10 April - Man City - Premier League
  • 12/13 April - PSG/Bayern - Champions League
  • 16/17 April - Chelsea - FA Cup
  • 19/20 April - Man United - Premier League
  • 23/24 April - Everton - Premier League

Either way, it seems Liverpool are in for a pretty sensational April that will define their entire season!
