The ‘heaviest boxing match in history’ is set to take place next week between strongmen Eddie Hall and Hafthor Bjornsson.

Bjornsson has entered boxing through three prior exhibition fights, including taking on Devon Larratt, who is a world arm wrestling champion.

Yet, if it wasn't his experience, his trimmed down physique has impressed fans in his preparation for the fight.

Recognisable as giant Gregor ‘The Mountain’ in Game of Thrones, the Icelandic fighter recently revealed that the biggest change in his work ethic has been the change of diet.

"My diet has changed a lot since my strongman days. I used to eat a lot of rib-eye steak, a lot of rice.

"The calories I eat in a day are a lot less. I used to eat 10,000 calories a day, now I eat not even close to that."

Bjornsson has been diligent with his meal plans, with most meals consisting of flank steak, rice, cod, spinach and potatoes.

As per The Sun, Thor is currently consuming 4,000 calories a day and eating five meals.

Meal one consists of flank steak, two eggs, oats, strawberries and blueberries, meal two consists of been tenderloin, rice and spinach, meal three is cod, spinach and potatoes, meal four sees Thor intake salmon, rice and courgette, whilst the final meal of the day is Thor's Skyr, almond or peanut butter and berries.

This consistency has allowed him to lose a whopping 55kg. He claims he owes this achievement through looking at his blood work and choosing a diet that fitted his needs.

He admitted: "It’s very important to get your bloodwork done and see what the best diet is for you. Very few people do that, but if you want the most out of your diet you have to do that."

This jaw-dropping transformation has created a more mobile athlete and Bjornsson has taken up cardio exercises such as rowing and swimming, yet remains adamant against running.

Meanwhile, his competitor Eddie Hall has remained confident ahead of the bout, claiming that Bjornsson was ‘scared’ to lose in the grudge match and has offered to pay up to £200,000 to a charity of Bjornsson’s choice if he is to lose against the Icelander.

The result of the bout will be decided in Abu Dhabi on March 19.
