£33m Aston Villa star may have 'finally found a home', faces 'interesting' decision

Aston Villa loanee Philippe Coutinho could have finally found his perfect home ahead of potentially making his temporary switch from Barcelona permanent, according to transfer insider Dean Jones.

Injuries and a lack of form resulted in Coutinho’s £142million move to Barcelona failing to pay off, but he has rediscovered some of his best form since returning to the Premier League.

What’s the latest news involving Coutinho?

Steven Gerrard was appointed as Villa’s head coach in November and his first signing proved to be a former Liverpool team-mate.

The Midlands club managed to strike a loan deal with Catalan giants Barcelona for Coutinho in January, with the agreement including the option of Villa making the switch permanent for £33million.

Coutinho headed to Villa Park having already racked up 78 Premier League goal contributions during his time on the books of Liverpool.

The 66-cap Brazil international has readjusted to the rigours of the English top flight seamlessly and built on a goalscoring debut against Manchester United by regularly finding the back of the net and recording assists.

Unsurprisingly, Gerrard has already revealed he wants to take advantage of the permanent option in the deal which reunited him with Coutinho.

What has Dean Jones said about Coutinho?

Jones believes Coutinho has finally found a club where he can flourish and rediscover his best form after an unhappy spell on the books of Barcelona.

As a result, the journalist feels the Brazilian has a huge decision to make ahead of the end of his loan agreement at Villa Park.

Jones told GIVEMESPORT: “I think it’s been a good move for him so far. I think it will be a really interesting scenario in the summer if they do make an offer to him because he’s found it so hard to find a home which feels like home.

“Finally, he might feel like this is worth it.”

Are any other clubs interested in Coutinho?

Coutinho has clinched the Champions League and Copa America over the course of a trophy-laden career, so it should come as no surprise that Villa are not the only club vying to take the 29-year-old off Barcelona’s hands.

Spanish sources have claimed Coutinho has grabbed the attention of Premier League rivals West Ham United and Arsenal thanks to his exploits in the Midlands.

It is understood that Hammers boss David Moyes would make Coutinho a focal point should the east Londoners win the race for his signature, while Gunners chief Mikel Arteta is a huge admirer.
