Sitting at the top of the division as the undisputed UFC welterweight champion of the world, as well as being the pound-for-pound best fighter in the world, means there isn’t too many new challenges for Kamaru Usman to face.

He has already said he’s not sure he’ll ever step up to middleweight to fight his good friend and fellow Nigerian Israel Adesanya, and he’s always looked too big to be able to cut down to lightweight, so what could be next for Usman?

Well, there has been rumours before that he might step over to boxing.

Some say that he may fight Canelo Alvarez in what would be one of the greatest fighting matchups of this generation, but others have a different opponent in mind.

Up and coming boxing star Jake Paul has been coming for Usman on Twitter, and the two have been involved in a back and forth on the social media platform.

Usman previously said he’d want nothing to do with fighting Paul, but it appears now he seems to be backtracking somewhat, perhaps largely due to the money Usman would be able to demand fighting in an event such as this.

Speaking to Club Shay Shay, he said: “They got the YouTubers and they got this new generation, these new kids involved and watching them.

"That’s fine, but they don’t equate to dollars. Jake Paul says: 'We doing these numbers.'

"You can add up every fight Jake Paul has had, but the pay-per-view numbers weren’t more than what I did in my last fight.

"Write me a check for $100 million, Jake Paul and I’ll be there to kick your ass next week.”

Paul already has two wins against former UFC fighters in Ben Askren and Tyrone Woodley, the latter of whom was also the former UFC welterweight champion before losing said belt to Usman himself.

In fact, Paul has already beaten Woodley twice in his fledgling career; one via a points decision and the other with a brutal knockout. Paul also has knockout wins over YouTuber AnesonGib and ex-NBA player Nate Robinson.

Paul’s newest opponent will be announced soon enough. Is he willing to cough up the money to fight the Kamaru ‘The Nigerian Nightmare’ Usman?
