Sergio Reguilon is Antonio Conte's best left wing-back option at Tottenham right now, according to journalist Pete O'Rourke.

The Spain international has been battling it out with Ryan Sessegnon to be the Italian's first choice on the left this season.

What's the latest news involving Reguilon?

Reguilon has been Tottenham's number one left-sided player pretty much from the minute he arrived for £27.5m from Real Madrid 18 months ago.

Ben Davies struggled to put pressure on him last season and after starting 12 of the first 13 Premier League games this term, he looked a safe bet to continue as first choice for the rest of the campaign.

But since Ryan Sessegnon returned from injury in November, Reguilon has had his work cut out and is arguably behind the 21-year-old in the pecking order.

Reguilon returned to top-flight action following almost a month out against Everton on Monday and marked his comeback by scoring instantly off the bench. However, Sessegnon had already set up Spurs' first goal in that game in what was his sixth consecutive start in all competitions.

His run in the side started because Reguilon tested positive for Covid-19 ahead of the trip to Manchester City last month, but having had a hand in two goals in his last two Premier League outings, Conte is clearly seeing enough in Sessegnon's game to continuously pick him.

But O'Rourke reckons that Reguilon is still Conte's best option despite being overlooked in recent games.

What did O'Rourke say about Reguilon?

He told GIVEMESPORT: "At his disposal right now, you would have to say that Reguilon is probably his best option at left wing-back. Ryan Sessegnon has done ok in recent games, he did well against Manchester City and Leeds, but not as well against Burnley."

Who could start against Manchester United on Saturday?

Many Tottenham fans would agree with O'Rourke that Reguilon is still their best left-sided player, and with Ryan Sessegnon hobbling off at half-time against Everton, the Spaniard should make his first start since the beginning of February.

Sessegnon suffered a hamstring problem in the final stages of the opening period on Monday and has been ruled out until after the international break.

Therefore, especially with Reguilon performing well off the bench against Frank Lampard's side, the ex-Real Madrid man might have started the game anyway, but Sessegnon's injury has secured his starting place at Old Trafford.
