With season 1 of Halo Infinite coming to a close, it’s time to look to the future and see what 343 Industries have planned for fans of the franchise.
Players have been wanting an overhaul of content from the initial release, with their appetites being sufficed with intermittent free content updates such as new game modes and event passes. But now it’s time for the big guns, the new season of Halo Infinite’s multiplayer.
Season 1 saw the addition of new cosmetics, including a new armour core reminiscent of Halo Reach, and game modes. These came in the form of the battle pass and the events such as Tenrai, Cyber Showdown and, more recently, Tactical Ops. However, Season 2 aims to do this and so much more.
As stated in the March update, Season 2 promises to deliver new content in the forms of game modes, customisation and story content that gamers can get immersed in, including two confirmed new maps and a classic re-addition of a fan-favourite mode from previous Halo titles.
Enough talk! Here is everything we know about Season 2 so far:
First off is when the new season is expected to be released for players. Season 1 for Halo Infinite ends on May 2 meaning that Season 2 is starting the following day, 3rd May as mentioned in the March update. Many gamers have been waiting since release for the second season after sinking their teeth into what the game had to offer.
Halo took a bold move and decided to break away from the mould of one or two-month battle passes with Season 1 lasting from November 15, 2021, up until May 2, 2022. This change was welcomed by the community as they didn’t feel forced to play the game to complete the battle pass and could play in a more casual and relaxed sense without stressing that they wouldn’t get all the rewards before time ran out.
Story and Armour sets
With the new season comes a new addition in the Halo Infinite story as it tells the tales of Spartan Sigrid Eklund and Spartan Hieu Dinh. Fans will learn more of their story and adventures when the new season premieres which promises to be “a mix of cinematics, story-themed Events, Battle Pass items” that players can get immersed in.
Also, a new armour core, going by the name of fracture, will be added to the season completely free. This will further allow fans to customize their spartan to really make them feel like a part of the Halo Infinite world.
Maps and Modes
Something else that gamers are hyped for are the new maps and modes that will be debuting with the new season. Two new modes are set to be released named “Last Spartan Standing” and “Land Grab” as well as the return of a fan favourite mode, “King of the Hill.”
There is also confirmation of a new Arena map named “Catalyst” and a BTB map called “Breaker” with concept arts being published, although their final designs are not yet public. More information will be revealed in April as Halo kicks off its promotional campaign for the season with news of brand new customization options and narrative content.
Overall, it’s looking like it’s going to be a jam-packed time of immersion and fun for fans of the franchise, who have been longing to get an overhaul of content. Season 2 seems like it’s going to deliver what fans have wanted and asked for as well as a whole lot more!
