Everton boss Frank Lampard 'will seek advice from the people around him' ahead of bolstering the Toffees squad he inherited, according to transfer insider Dean Jones.

The Merseyside club appointed Lampard as their manager in January and he was tasked with guiding them away from the Premier League relegation zone after Rafa Benitez was sacked.

What's the latest news involving Everton?

Everton are in serious danger of dropping into the Championship as they went into the weekend sitting just one point above the drop zone.

Lampard has been unable to turn the tide at Goodison Park, with a 3-0 thumping of fellow strugglers Leeds United being the only domestic victory he has enjoyed since replacing Benitez in the dugout.

A 5-0 defeat at the hands of Tottenham Hotspur emphasised Everton's problems, meaning the Toffees have still only won two Premier League clashes since overcoming Norwich City in September.

Sky Sports pundit Jamie Carragher reacted to the major setback at Spurs by claiming Everton’s back four is ‘Championship level’ and the Toffees have a ‘real chance’ of being relegated from the top flight for the first time since 1951.

Lampard, whose side face Wolverhampton Wanderers at Goodison Park today, blamed the north London humiliation on individual errors rather than tactical disarray or poor attitude.

What has Dean Jones said about the situation?

Jones believes Lampard will be desperate to add reinforcements during the summer window which will make them harder to break down.

The transfer insider feels the former Chelsea chief will be looking for guidance from members of his backroom staff and the hierarchy when it comes to deciding who would fit the bill to come into his squad.

With Everton conceding 46 goals in 25 Premier League games so far this season, it is clear opponents are not finding it difficult to find the back of the net.

Jones told GIVEMESPORT: "I think that Frank Lampard will seek advice from the people around him on the best way to build that team and make them more tough to beat because they are just too easy to play against."

Who have Everton been linked with?

According to TEAMtalk, Everton are in the hunt for Blackburn Rovers attacker Ben Brereton Diaz.

The report suggests Brighton & Hove Albion are the frontrunners for the 11-cap Chile international, but Everton - along with Crystal Palace, Leeds United and West Ham United - are also keen to do business.

Brereton Diaz would be a cost effective option for the Toffees as his Blackburn contract is set to expire in the summer.
