Heavyweight boxer Otto Wallin has explained why he believes he is the perfect choice to take on Anthony Joshua in his next bout.

Ever since the loss to Oleksandr Usyk, it’s seemed like just a matter of time before Anthony Joshua gets his rematch. Alas, the ongoing conflict between Russia and Ukraine means that nobody really knows when Usyk will be back in the ring to defend his belts.

Therefore, Joshua has decided to stay active, with Eddie Hearn noting that the former king of the division isn’t interested in taking an ‘easy’ fight.

A handful of potential opponents have been thrown out there as suggestions with Otto Wallin being one of them.

In a string of tweets, the 31-year-old made his case - and he didn’t mince his words.

“I’m by far the best option here. Wilder is coming off back to back KO losses against Fury that I took the distance and sent to the hospital to get 47 stitches. Ortiz got dropped twice by Charles Martin that Joshua wiped out in 2 rounds.”

“I think Joe Joyce could give AJ a good fight but he’s nothing like Usyk. The only reason Joshua wouldn’t pick me as the opponent is because they know I’m a big threat and I’ll hand him his third loss.”

The rise of Otto

Otto Wallin was written off as little more than a warm body for Tyson Fury to beat when they met in September 2019. In reality, though, he was a pretty formidable foe and even had Fury on the verge of being stopped due to a nasty cut he opened up.

‘The Gypsy King’ fought his way through to a decision but after bouncing back with three straight wins, the Swede is ready for another step up in competition.

He was initially scheduled to face Dillian Whyte on October 30, only for a late injury to rule the Brit out of the contest.

With Wallin having a chip on his shoulder due to Whyte receiving a crack at Tyson Fury next month, you can bet he’ll give Joshua all he can handle.
